При мен работи. ядрото е 2.6.0-тест9 (дебиански сорс), devfs.
Debian/unstable ежедневно обновяван от мнооого време насам.
$ ls -l /dev/tty0
lr-xr-xr-x 1 root root 4 2003-12-17 14:07 /dev/tty0 ->
vc/0
$ ls -l /dev/vc/0
crw-rw-rw- 1 root root 4, 0 1970-01-01 02:00 /dev/vc/0
$ ls -l /dev/console
crw------- 1 root tty 5, 1 2003-12-17 14:08 /dev/console
$ ls -l /dev/tty
crw-rw-rw- 1 root tty 5, 0 2003-12-17 14:07 /dev/tty
сам ли си компилирал ядрото?
$grep PTY /usr/src/linux/.config
CONFIG_UNIX98_PTYS=y
CONFIG_UNIX98_PTY_COUNT=256
